Robert "Bob" Burgenstock, 82, a resident of Cleveland, TN passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at his residence. He was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from A.Fredricks and Son Construction Company where he was a surveyor for 29 years. He was a combat sergeant with the 8th Division of the United States Army during World War II. He participated in the Normandy Invasion on Omaha Beach. He was injured while in the military and received the Purple Heart and was a POW. He was a member of the VFW in Port Richey, Florida. Mr. Burgenstock was the son of the late George Burgenstock and Minnie Barnhill Burgenstock and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Burgenstock and his daughter, Rita Burgenstock. He is survived by his wife, Emma Linda Morgain Burgenstock of Cleveland, TN; four children and spouses: Connie and Al Crumley of Sevierville, TN, Robert P. and Lynn Burgenstock of Watertown, NY, David and Laurie Burgenstock of Watertown, NY and William and Roberta Burgenstock of Darlington, SC; one step daughter and spouse: Sandy and Allen Henderson of Chattanooga, TN; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchild; one brother, George Burgenstock of Bel Air, MD; several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Jerrel Fowler officiating. Military honors will conclude the service.
