Troy L. Dixon, 63, a life long resident of Bradley County, passed away Saturday, February 09, 2008 at the family residence. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School Class of 1962 and was well known in the Republican Party where he worked diligently on many campaigns. He was a former member of the Cleveland Jaycees, Young Republicans and was a well known political analyst. He wrote and published the book "Journey To Public Office" which has been used by many to guide them to a political successful campaign. He was also a longtime member of the "Liars Table". He was a chief appraiser of right-of-ways for the State of Tennessee. He was with the Tennessee National Guard for six years. Mr. Dixon was the son of the late Raymond Dixon and Lena Aldridge Dixon and was also preceded in death by his brother, Randall Dixon. Survivors include his special friend, Girleen Howard of Athens; one son, Michael Dixon and wife Constance of Athens; four grandchildren: Michael Blake Dixon of Charleston, Brooke Ann Dixon of Chattanooga, Jillian Marie Dixon and Michael Troy Dixon both of Athens; one sister, Brenda Coten of Charleston two brothers: Jerry Don Dixon of Reliance and Kenneth Dixon of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Wagner, Eddie Cartwright, County Mayor Gary Davis and Mayor Tom Rowland officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. His family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
