Seymour Hall

April 15, 1933 — February 10, 2008

Seymour Hall, 74, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the family residence. He was of the Christian faith. He was a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service, having served for 23 years upon his retirement. He was a proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces, serving in many theatres around the world. He began his distinguished career in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He then continued his military service with the U.S. Air Force, serving three tours in the Vietnam War. During his career, MSgt Hall received numerous awards and commendations including the Air Force Commendation Medal for his service in Southeast Asia, presented by President Richard M. Nixon. MSgt. Hall retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of honorable service. He was a life member of the VFW Post #2598 and the American Legion Post # 81. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association and the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch # 1995. Mr. Hall was the son of the late James Ira Hall and Ollie Mae Shell Hall and was also preceded in death by his brothers: Henry Hall, Millard Hall, Avery Hall and Pastor Marion W. Hall, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ruby E. Hall of Cleveland; three children: Joseph I. Hall of Ooltewah, Faith R. Bowman of Chattanooga and Aaron S. Hall of Cleveland; three grandchildren: Lauren Rhena? Bowman of Cleveland, Jacob Ole Hall of Hermitage, TN and Tessa Elizabeth Hall of Charleston, TN; one sister, Frankie Kimbrough of Chatsworth, GA; two brothers: Johnny Ray Hall of Cleveland, TN and Pastor Lester S. Hall of Billings, MT; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Nolen and Pastor Lester S. Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Lenoir City Cemetery with full military honors. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the funeral home.
