Homer Weathers, Jr., 76, a resident of Charleston, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008 in a local hospital. Mr. Weathers was of the Baptist faith. He was a well-known gardener in the Charleston community. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Weathers, Sr., and Maggie Howard Weathers; sister, Vera Weathers and brother, Henry Weathers. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline Weathers of Charleston; daughter, Susan Ledford and son, Bruce Weathers both of Charleston; two grandchildren, Marty Weathers of Charleston and Suzette Weathers of Cleveland; three great grandchildren: Donta Weathers, Andre Weathers and Aaliyah Zacarias; two sisters, Doris Baskett of Chattanooga and Dorothy Glover and husband, Pete of Chickamauga, GA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Mike Brown, Donnie Howard, Mac Jones, Bill Baskett, Marty Weathers and Tod Wooldridge will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
