Fred Hall Hughes

January 9, 1925 — March 10, 2008

Fred Hall Hughes, 83, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008 in a local hospital. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was retired from Maytag. Mr. Hughes was the son of the late Luke Hughes and Flora Jenkins Hughes and was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis Wayne Hughes; three brothers, Paul Hughes, Blaine Hughes and Joe Hughes; two sisters, Edna Black and Louise Queen. He is survived by his wife, Geraldean Osment Hughes of Cleveland; daughter and spouse: Karen H. Bishop and David Bishop of Cleveland; two grandchildren: Amy C. Cantrell and husband Scott Cantrell and Andy Cannon all of Cleveland; two great-grandchildren: Madi Cantrell and Cooper Hall Cantrell both of Cleveland; one sister. Frances Beck of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Loreda Hughes of Cleveland; brother-in-law, Joe Queen of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Pallbearers will be Andy Cannon, Wes Eshenbrenner, David Yost, Danny Osment, Jimmy Ogle, Joel Prince and Jimmy Hughes. The family will receive friends from 12-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children?s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 in honor of Madi Cantrell and Fred Hughes.
