Robert Seaborn Chesnutt

Robert Seaborn Chesnutt, 77, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School Class of 1948. He was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict and received the Good Conduct Medal and the Occupational Medal. He was a volunteer fireman for over 25 years and was Fireman of the Year in 1971. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the City of Cleveland in 1974. Mr. Chesnutt was the son of the late Jess B. Chesnutt and Pearl Seaborn Chesnutt and was also preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Elizabeth Chesnutt. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Chesnutt of Cleveland; one son and spouse: Lynn Alan Chesnutt and Heather Higginbotham of Cleveland; two grandchildren: Savannah Blair Chesnutt and Jameson Cole Chesnutt both of Cleveland; niece and spouse, Brenda and Gary Nunley of Cleveland. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Reverend Andy Ferguson and Reverend Debbie Stokes officiating. David Carroll, John Carroll, Gary Hunley, Kelly Feehrer and Sammy Feehrer, Rick Holloway will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
