Mary Nell Ensley Fortner, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend expired March 26, 2008. She was born April 5, 1939 in Cleveland. She was 68 years old. She leaves behind beautiful flowers, delicious recipes, good books and the loving memory of her family and friends. She was a Registered Nurse for 48 years and graduated from the first nursing class at CSCC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Haskin Ensley and Enid Lucille Baskette Ensley of Cleveland; sister, Margaret Ann and brother-in-law, John Russell of Pascagoula, MS, Edith and Kyle Williams of Greenville; cousins: June, Floyd and Frankie Williams of Greenville; niece, Elizabeth Ann Ensley; nephews: Steve Ensley and Dewayne Ensley of Cleveland; Donald Fortner of Cleveland and beloved cat, Tom. She is survived by her children: Mary Katherine Fortner of Decatur, Donna Elizabeth Catlett of Cleveland, Jane Ann Newman and J. Wayne Newman of Chattanooga, Michael Lynn Fortner and Kaye Fortner of Dalton, GA, Jonathan David McAllister, II and Michelle McAllister both of Cleveland; pets: Charlie, Tasia, Joe and Leroy; siblings: Elizabeth Enid Ensley, John William and Patricia Ensley, Glenna Sue McAllister, Thomas Aden and Lucille Ensley of Cleveland; Robert and Ella Baskette of Knoxville; grandchildren; Andrew Wayne Newman and Sally Jane Newman of Chattanooga, Heather Brenee Catlett and Hannah Maria Catlett of Cleveland and Caitlynn Elizabeth Fortner, of Dalton, GA; nieces and nephews: Kenneth Lee Ensley and Jennifer Ensley of Hendersonville, John Russell and Kaye Russell of Fayetteville, GA, Richard and Cammie Russell, Andy and Lucy Vice of Pascagoula, MS, Scott Russell of Biloxi, MS, David Ensley of Knoxville, Jeff and Lisa Ensley of Cleveland; great nieces and nephews: Allison Kaylee Ensley, Kayla and Jonathan David McAllister, III of Cleveland, Kara and Chris Freeman, Jacob, Aimee and Hunter Ensley of Hendersonville, John Wesley and Terri Russell of St. Augustine, FL, Olivia Russell of Atlanta, GA, Emily and Sara Russell of Pascagoula, MS; Grant, Ian, Russell of Biloxi, MS, John W. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Saturday in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Andy Ferguson officiating. Her family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland prior to the service.
