Thyra June Cook, 70, a resident of Cleveland, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 27, 2008. Thyra attended Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Pine Hill Church of God, Kinser Church of God and Bethel Baptist Church where she was the pianist for many years. Thyra also wrote and directed many Christmas and Easter Cantatas. She was an accomplished pianist and music teacher. She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School Class of 1955. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur F. Sliger and Florence Inez (Starnes) Sliger; brother, Maurice B. Sliger and sister, Peggy A. Morris. She is survived by her husband, C.L. Cook of Cleveland, who she married on August 7, 1953; 8 children and spouses: John W. and Tracy Cook, Alan R. and Rose Cook, David L. and Kathy Cook, Rebecca Cook Goad, Sandra J. Spence, Robert D. and Anna Cook, Jeffery L. and Pam Cook and Stephanie M. and Dale Clark all of Cleveland; 19 grandchildren: John M., Christopher L. and spouse, Terri, Jeremy, Brandon, Richard, John Mark and spouse, Meggan, Justin, Christopher, Jacob, Stephen, Tosha, Trent, Tanner, Bradley, Naaman, Megan, Courtney, Casey and Ashley; 2 great grandchildren: Taylor and Lyrik; 8 siblings: James F. Sliger, Charles E. Sliger, Rose E. Housley, Jack M. Sliger, Mary E. Wilson, Hubert G. Sliger and Barbara A. Howard all of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Rick Sentell officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church Bradley Cemetery with John Cook, Alan Cook, David Cook, Jeff Cook, Robert Cook, Richard Chase Goad, Jeremy Cook, John Mitchel Cook and John Mark Spence serving as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
