Paul E. Garner, 53, a life long resident of Cleveland was called to be with the Lord after a short and very courageous battle with cancer in a Chattanooga hospital. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved doing automotive work and drove a truck for a living for the United States Postal Services. He was a very kind, gentle and loving man and will be forever missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty L. Garner; brother, Lewis Garner; grandfather, Roy "Pat" Garner; two aunts, Clara Ayers and Judy Belcher. He leaves behind his companion of eight years, Barbara Bayless; two daughters, Faith Chastain and Andrea Collins; six grandchildren: Darwyn and Briasha Garner, Boston Collins, Hunter and Destiny Meadows and Maddison Chastain; two sons-in-law, Sgt. Cecil Collins and Corporal Joshua Chastain; one sister, Angela Blair; brother-in-law, Chase Blair; two close nephews, Andrew and Ethan Blair; one great-nephew, Jaden Blair; father, Gene Garner; one close uncle, Jim Ayers; and best friend, Mike Wilson; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Brother Ronnie Pierson officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Pallbearers will be Andrew and Ethan Blair, Sgt. Cecil Collins, Corporal Joshua Chastain, Mike Wilson and Gene Geduco. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
