Donald Wesley Lofty

Donald Wesley Lofty, 76, a resident of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 19, 2008 at the family residence. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he was a deacon and altar counselor. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He received a B.S. from Tennessee Tech University in mechanical engineering. He retired from Maytag after fourteen years of service. Mr. Lofty was the son of the late John W. Lofty and Odell Garland Lofty. He is survived by his wife Lucille P. Lofty of Cleveland; one daughter and spouse: Lee Ann and Keith Martin of Bradenton, Florida; two grandchildren: Joshua Martin of Dallas, Texas and Bethany Martin of Bradenton, Florida; five siblings: Richard Lofty of Birmingham, Alabama, Bob Lofty of Kimball, TN, Mary Sells of Chattanooga, TN, Ann Bible and Rose Payne both of Kimball, TN. Don and Lucille also opened their home to many people, including special son, Gary Montier of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Westwood Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Caywood, Reverend Keith Goforth and Reverend Dwight Millsaps officiating. Interment will be held at the Burningtree Memorial Gardens in Decatur, Alabama on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 1 p.m. CST. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Westwood Baptist Church prior to the service.
