Bennie Harold Orr

Bennie Harold Orr, 62, a resident of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the family residence. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all that knew him. He was a member of Hiwassee Baptist Church for 44 years. He was employed with Maytag for 44 years. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Susan Orr; parents, Robert and Ollie Orr; one brother, J.B. Orr; two sisters, Bernitta Orr and Joyce Orr Goodwin; son-in-law, David Carroll. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Dean Orr; son, Ricky Orr and his wife, Tina Orr of Cleveland; daughter, Angela Orr Carroll of Charleston; grandchildren: Taylor Orr, Dusten Orr, Morgan Orr, Tristan Orr, Carrie Stansberry, Daniel Turner, Hailee Turner, Victoria Battles and Tessa Battles; great-grandchildren: Natalie Turner; two brothers: Tom Orr and Bobby Orr and wife Charollete Orr all of Cleveland; two sisters: Mary Ruth Calhoun of Michigan and Phyllis Mitchell of Ohio; special brother-in-law and loving care givers: John, Glenn and Tom Moore of Calhoun; two sisters-in-law: Ruby Cartwright of Cleveland and Jane Evans of Delano; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Hiwassee Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Sneed and Reverend Guinn Green officiating. Interment will follow in Hambright Cemetery with Stanley Liner, Michael Liner, Lamar Orr, Danny Evans, Mark Evans and Marcus Jones serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Liner, Josh Liner and Josh Byers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2008 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
