Dewey S. Massey, age 71, became cancer free when he walked into the loving arms of Jesus on May 27, 2008. There to meet him at Heaven?s gates were his loving wife, Geneva Massey, Momma and Dad- Bessie Maudy and William Franklin (Barney) Massey, sister- Ruby Watson, brother- Plez Emory along with a host of other family members and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children Sheila Bennett and husband Perry, Gayla Carden and husband Gary, Russell Massey and wife Pam, Stan Massey and his girlfriend Janice Lewis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, the greatest joys in his life, Brittany Higgins (Fart-Blossom), Gabrielle Bennett (Applepus) and Abigail Bennett (June Bug). He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and their spouses who he loved and very much appreciated including Teddy (Mae) Payne, Marion (Leota) Payne, Beecher Payne and Dale Payne. Also surviving him are a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was employed with Brown Stove Works in Cleveland for 24 years and retired from Roper Corporation in La Fayette, GA in 1998. He will be greatly missed. We are so thankful for all the precious memories he has left for us ? camping trips, being outdoors, fishing and hunting. We will miss his calmness, his wisdom and his loving, weather worn hands that could fix anything placed before him. We are richer by far than those with money for we had a home full of respect, honor and love most abundant. We are proud to call him "Dad". Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. Please join us as we celebrate his life in services immediately following at 7 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Lee Ingram officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Coker Creek Church Cemetery in Tellico Plains, TN with a white dove release ceremony. "In Christ, there are no goodbyes and in Christ there is no end so I?ll hold onto Jesus with all that I have till I see you again".
