Virgil Brown

Virgil Brown, 72, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, May 29, 2008 at the family residence. He was born October 10, 1935. He was a member of Samples Memorial Baptist Church. Virgil worked most of his life as a general contractor and recently retired. He loved spending time with his family, working in his garden, taking care of his yard, visiting with his neighbor, John "Pop" Strazelecki, and taking rides with his granddaughters around the neighborhood in his golf cart. Mr. Brown was the son of the late Charlie and Lillie Robinson Brown and was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Tammy Brown; sisters: Omey Kibler, Lillian Kerr and Nora Davis; brothers: Warren Brown, Jackson Brown and Elmo Brown. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years Charlotte Fowler Brown; daughters and sons-in-law, Sam and Rhonda Arms of Ocoee, Randy and Angie Davis of Cleveland, and Steve and Shannon Withrow of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Shea Brown of Benton; four granddaughters, Sarah Arms, Bailey Withrow, Katie Withrow, and Campbell Brown; brothers, Dewey Brown and John Brown both of Cleveland; sisters, Francis Brown and Carrie Pippenger both of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Lee Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Samples Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Sam Arms, Ed Swallows, Randy Davis, Jeff Arrowood, Bill Tatum, Steve Withrow, Gary Rymer and James Brown will serve as pallbearers. Larry Morgan will serve as honorary pallbearer.
