Margaret E. McCaleb, 87, a resident of Cleveland and a former resident of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in a local hospital. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Alabama where she was formerly active in many church activities and ministries including the Meals on Wheels Program. In 1998, she and her husband founded the McCaleb Initiative for Peace at Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, Missouri. Mrs. McCaleb was the daughter of the late Clarence H. Baughman and Freida Bushner Baughman and was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, H. Kenneth McCaleb. She is survived by her son, Robert D. McCaleb and wife, Patti McCaleb of Cleveland; two granddaughters: Laura McCaleb, and Leah McCaleb and one grandson, Landon McCaleb all of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Caywood officiating. There will also be a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Steve West officiating. Her family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
