William Jennings Hyatt

December 14, 1931 — July 17, 2008

William Jennings Hyatt, Jr., 76, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008 in a Chattanooga hospital. For over 40 years, he was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, choir member and pastor search committee. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force stationed at Burtonwood Air Force Base in Warrington, England where he served in the Office of Special Investigations. He was previously employed with Dun and Bradstreet, Hardwick Stove Company and Coppinger Color Lab. He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. Hyatt, Sr. and Lanita Lunsford Hyatt of Walterboro, SC. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dottie Hyatt of Cleveland; 5 children: Connie Wilson and husband, Joe, Suzanne Headrick, Judy Norton and husband, Sam all of Cleveland, Bill Hyatt and wife, Marti of Summerville, SC and Andy Hyatt and wife, Susan of Etowah; 11 grandchildren: Jay Wilson of Bowling Green, KY, Stephen Wilson and Misty Mullins of Ooltewah, Julie Headrick of Cleveland, Jessica Jackson of Mandeville, LA, Sarah Blakeney of Hattiesburg, MS, Emily Norton of New Orleans, LA, Will Hyatt, Tanner Hyatt and Jordan Hyatt of Etowah and Tiffany Noble of Elgin, SC; 7 great grandchildren: Hunter Wilson, Hayden Wilson, Tyler Mullins, Olivia Mullins, Henley Headrick, Delaney Headrick, Cooper Wilson; his beloved Tori; 1 sister, Dorothy Hartley of Walterboro, SC and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, July 20, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Harold Smith officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 21, 2008 in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. His family will receive friends from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
