Della Louise Shahan

Della Louise Shahan, 91 of Birchwood, died peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy illness, on Friday July 18, 2008 with her very special caregiver, Angel Shahan and husband Brian, at her side. She was of the Church of God Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vernia Cannon Collins; husband, Luke Shahan; two sons, Zane and L.J. Shahan; and 5 grandchildren. She is survived by four sons, Johnny Shahan and Dennis Shahan both of Birchwood, Pete Shahan of Cleveland, and Tommy Shahan of Jacksonville, Arkansas; three daughters, Bille Miller, Margie Foote, and Donna Kidwell all of Birchwood; twenty-five grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Gilbert Collins and Harry Collins of Eastview; and sister, Blanche Cofer of Georgetown. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2008 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend James Hughes and Reverend Hank Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery with John Caldwell, Michael Lawson, Keith Shahan, Stuart Short, Brett Rogers, and Lee Shahan serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
