Charlie Snyder, 66, a long time resident of Cleveland, born in Hendersonville, NC, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008 at his home surrounded by loving family and friends. He recently retired from the Logan, Thompson, Miller, and Thompson Law Firm where he served as Support Clerk for 28 years, retiring on June 30th of this year. He served his country in the Tennessee National Guard. While playing football at Bradley Central High School, Charlie lettered all four years and was selected as All-State in 1959 and played in the All Star football game in 1960. His football career at Bradley Central earned him a full scholarship to the University of Tennessee. In 1965 ? 1966 he played professional football for the Chattanooga Cherokees. Charlie was inducted into the Bradley County Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. He was a loyal Bradley Bear football supporter and loved the Bearettes basketball team. Charlie was a talented singer and performed with many local bands during his singing career. Above all, Charlie considered his numerous friendships to be one of his greatest accomplishments in life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. Snyder, Sr. and Ruby Mae Lowery Snyder; aunt, Marie Thompson and cousin, Gail Robinson. He is survived by his son, Duke Snyder and wife, Brandy, his daughter, Brandy Latham and husband, Stephen, all of Cleveland; mother of his children and his friend, Pat Snyder of Murfreesboro; 1 grandson, Madden Snyder and 1 granddaughter, Charlee Snyder both of Cleveland; special cousin, Gwen Goins and husband, Randall of Cleveland and cousins, Rick and Ivonne Burrell of FL. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at North Cleveland Church of God with the Reverend Dalton McKellip officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with David Smith, Victor Hicks, Gary Conner, Willie Jenkins, Buddy Whaley, and John Still serving as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 1- 5 p.m. Wednesday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
