Robert Leslie, 86, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in a local hospital. He was a member of Kinser Church of God. He was a former union coal miner and electrician with IBEW for ten years. He was a veteran the United States Navy serving in WWII in the Phillipines on USS Robinson. Mr. Leslie was the son of the late S.R. Leslie and Virginia Holley Leslie and was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Gary Leslie; one brother, Melvin Leslie; three sisters: Lexie Barnhart, Thelma Frye and twin sister, Roberta Sark. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Edith Clark Leslie of Cleveland; five children and spouses: Joy and Charles Blackburn, Sherry and Dennis Cross all of Cleveland, Patricia Mashburn of Benton, Danny and Cheryl Leslie of Marietta, Ohio and Kathy Walraven of Benton; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Guinn Green officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
