Robert Eugene Gilson

Robert Eugene Gilson, 92, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009 at his residence. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a former scout master, a lifelong Mason and a volunteer fireman. He attended Candies Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lucille Eby Gilson; his parents, Guy and Grace Winger Gilson; and one sister, Helen Garrison. Survivors include three children and spouses: Daniel and Brenda Gilson of Cleveland, Suzy and Joel Becher of Uniontown, Ohio and Nancy and John Bacher of Bowling Green, Kentucky; ten grandchildren: Brian Bacher, Aron Bacher, Brent Bacher, Dr. Troy Gilson, Tracy Gilson, Michael Mayle, Dan Becher, Kris Becher, Diana Hottinger and Joelle Hawkins; 25 great-grandchildren; and one nephew: Jim Garrison. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Dr. Jamison Work officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. His family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the funeral home.
