Roy H. Kerr, 84, a longtime resident of Bradley County passed away, Monday, July 20, 2009 in a local hospital with his loving family at his side. He attended Valley View Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. During his enlistment he was stationed in China with company #952. He also owned and operated Wildwood Service Station for several years and was an independent rock hauler and chicken farmer. He was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children Ruby Picklesimer Kerr; grandson Terry L. Griffith, Jr.; parents Alexander and Sallie Starnes Kerr; three sisters: Ollie Cochran, Mary Williams and Hazel Kazy Griffith; five brothers: Carl Kerr, L.C. Kerr, Jesse Kerr, Gene Kerr and Don Kerr; two step-daughters: Darlene Snyder and Palma Sue Snyder. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Lillie Snyder Kerr; children Roy Kerr, Jr and wife Penny and Sandy Senters and husband William, all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Howell Kerr, III, Amy Gray, Christy Critchfield, and Anitra Murphy; nine great-grandchildren, one brother Gilbert Kerr of Social Circle, GA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastors David Tutton and Brian Smith officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Sugar Creek Cemetery with Tommy Kerr, Jim Critchfield, George Gray, Howell Kerr, III, Derrick Ownby and Rick Donegan serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with Military Honors and a white dove release ceremony. The family will receive friends, 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the funeral home.
