Carl Edward Duckett

Carl Edward Duckett, 85, of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 31, 2009. He was born in Tellico Plains on October 23, 1923 to the late Eilsh and Elizabeth Burris Duckett. He was a disabled veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He was owner/proprietor of Furniture Wholesale Company of Cleveland for 26 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Euline Duckett; sisters, Minnie Duckett and Effie Lou Duckett Graham; brother, James “Toby” Duckett; half sister, Mae Duckett Roberts; half brother, Lloyd Duckett; and son-in-law, Alexander J. Lawson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Aleine Ervin Duckett of Cleveland; daughter, Cathy Duckett Lawson of Cleveland; grandchildren, Angie Lawson Goodwill and husband, David of Cleveland and Shelby Lawson Bingham and husband, Jason of Roanoke, VA; four great grandchildren, Alex Bingham, Sara Catherine Bingham, Bailey Bingham, all of Roanoke, VA and Lainey Goodwill of Cleveland; brothers, Charlie Duckett and Kenneth Duckett, both of Tellico Plains; sisters, Jean Duckett Cole of Dalton, GA and Christine Duckett Ellis of Tellico Plains; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Dr. Reed Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jason Bingham, Alex Bingham, Richard Elliott, David Goodwill and David Clark serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Etowah Health Care Center and Wood Memorial Hospital for their loving care and friendship.
