Elizabeth King Thompson, 93, a resident of Cleveland passed away September 4, 2009 in a local healthcare facility. A native of Knoxville, she spent most of her life in Northwest FL. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Niceville, FL where she was much involved in volunteer work. She was a pledge to Chi Omega Sorority at the University of Tennessee. She was a homemaker and avid golfer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Joseph Thompson; parents, Ethelbert King and Mable Baker King and brothers, William Doyle King and James Baker King. Survivors include her children: James M. Thompson and wife, Dola of Cleveland; Joseph K. Thompson and wife, Grace of Troy, MI and Elizabeth F. Cain and husband, Ralph of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Thompson Adams, Carter Thompson, Carl Thompson, Lauren Thompson, Chandra Montero, Amy E. Cain and Bryan Cain and seven great-grandsons. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 11, 2009 in Highland Memorial Gardens in Knoxville, TN with James Cryer of Cookeville is officiating. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund in Niceville, FL or the National Autism Association, 1330 West Schatz Lane, Nixa, MO 65714.
