Martha Celestine Hooper

Martha Celestine Hooper, 83, a long time resident of Cleveland and Bradley County passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009 in a local healthcare facility. She was a faithful member of Candies Creek Baptist Church. She will always be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She treasured her family and friends and enjoyed family gatherings. She will be sadly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Melton Miller; father, M.Z. Miller; stepmother; Ollie Miller and granddaughter; Laura Kay Millaway. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, David T. Hooper; daughters, Connie Millaway and husband, Roy and Alice Harris and husband, Fritz; sons, Dale Hooper and wife, Sabel and Barry Hooper and wife, Cheryl; grandchildren, Carrie Millaway, Joey Harris, Virginia “Gin” Harris, Rusty Dailey, Keith Hooper, Natalie Holder and husband, Cory, Garrett Hooper and Anna Caroline Hooper; great grandchild, Lucy Grace Holder; sisters, Betty Bowman, Judy Hooper and Carolyn Gibson; brother, Doug Miller; aunt, Elizabeth Sanders; life long best friend, Virginia Wallace; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Dr. Reed Wright and Pastor Jamison Works officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Tyler Hooper, Bob Fortney, Keith Hooper, Garrett Hooper, Rick Hooper and Mark Hooper serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 1:00-3:00 at the funeral home prior to the service.
