Jerry G. Wells, 70, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his residence. He was of the Baptist faith. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed fishing, photography, traveling and was an avid fan of the Tennessee Volunteers. He was employed as a general foreman for over 37 years with Magic Chef/ Maytag Corporation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Wells and Jessie Lou Goodner Wells and grandson, Joe “Bubba” Wright. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Wilma Wells of Cleveland; children: Larry Higdon and wife, Marla of Ocoee, Debbie Price and husband, James of Benton, Mike Wells of Grantville, GA, Christy Wells-Reece and Tracy Reese both of Cleveland and Dennis Wells of Indianapolis, IN; nine grandchildren: Angela Epperson of Cleveland, Steven Wells and David Wells both of Augusta, GA, Chyna Wells of Gulfport, MS, Candice Holcomb of Moxville, NC, Taylor Reece, Canaan Wells, Tanda Higdon and Drake Reece all of Cleveland; eight great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Messer of Cleveland, brother, Robert Wells of Fort Oglethorpe, GA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 25, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack Smith and the Reverend Hubert Seals officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Charlie Wilson, Don Dowdy, Randy Hamilton, James Wells, Tommy Wells, Mark Wells and Tony Epperson serving as pallbearers. Taylor Reese, Drake Reese and Steve Epperson will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5-9 P.M. Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the funeral home.
