Ronald Edward "Ed" Morrison, 74, a resident of Oldfort, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2009, at his family residence. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict era. After his retirement from Johns Manville, he worked at South Polk Elementary as a custodian for several years. He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church and was a gospel singer. He also played music for the Hymnsmen, The Livelys, and the Gospel Sounds. He formed a family singing group called The Relatives, and then also played and sang with the Liberty Boys. He was the son of the late William Roscoe and Clarissa Irene Melton Morrison and was also preceded in death by one son, Ronald Edward Morrison, Jr., and a brother, Fred Morrison. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Peggy Curbow Morrison of Oldfort; three daughters: Teresa Raby and husband Darrell of Cleveland, Linda Morrison of Cleveland, and Lisa Pritchett and husband Shawn of Oldfort; two sons: David Morrison of Oldfort, and Tim Morrison and wife Rachel of Cookeville; siblings: William R. Morrison and wife Fran, Robert Morrison and wife Peggy, Wayne Morrison and wife Johnnie, Charles Morrison and wife Dot, and Glenda Merrell and husband Donal; special adopted family, Mike and Connie Dunn; and his 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren whom he loved dearly as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life and Worship Service will be conducted Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Campbell and Pastor Richard Mason officiating and with Phil Cross and David Elrod presenting the music. Interment will follow in Dill Cemetery in Oldfort with Mike Dunn, Bill "Buster" Morrison, Jason Morrison, Kevin Morrison, Bradley Scott, Gary Silvers, Donald Gene Withrow and Freddie L. Morrison serving as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5 ? 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
