Preston T Parris

PRESTON T. PARRIS Preston T. Parris, 93, a life-long resident of Cleveland, who sang about his Savior for 65 years, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013. He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church. Mr. Parris was known for his love of gospel music and was a member of several music groups and was a well-known choir director and minister of music. He was a local businessman, homebuilder and roofing contractor, who founded Parris Roofing Company in 1955. He was a charter member of the Tennessee Association of Roofing Contractors. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Ida Shope Parris; his daughter, Linda Hall; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, of 72 years, Blanche Martin Parris; son, Randy Parris and wife, Cindy; grandsons: Gary Caywood and wife, Kathy; David Parris and wife, Jenny; granddaughters: Renee Haney and Kim Carr both of Cleveland: several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral with Pastor Jim Caywood and Pastor Gary Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorials be made to TARC Scholarship Program, P.O.
