Jim Burner, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013, at his home following a short illness. He was born on June 24, 1929, in South Bend, Indiana. He was a retired civil engineer and worked for the U.S. Forest Service. He was a faithful member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and an active member of the Emmaus Community. He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Jacob Burner and Ethel Burner. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan A. Burner; son, Jeff Burner and wife Trudi Burner; daughter, Judy Weir and husband Ronnie Weir; grandchildren, Jacob Weir, Mac Weir and wife Melinda, Christy Edgmon and husband Philip, and Megan Eddings; one great grandchild, Lily Edgmon; and one brother, Jaybee Burner and wife Paula Burner. A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
