Calvin H Harvey

Calvin H. Harvey, 88, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his residence. He was born to proud parents, Wayne and Ida Harvey of the Michigan Avenue Community, on February 6, 1925. He attended the Michigan Avenue Elementary School for 8 years, Bradley High School graduate in 1943 and National School of Business. Calvin served with the 7th Armored Division in Germany during World War II. After serving with the Army in 1944 and 1945 he returned home in Cleveland and began working at the Princess Theater and remained in the theater work for 45 years, serving as manager of the Bohemia, Princess, Village and Carmike Four Theaters all in Cleveland until his retirement in 1990. Calvin was a dedicated member of Big Spring United Methodist Church until he was unable to attend in 2009. He was a life member of the 7th Armored Division and Will Rogers and a former member of the VFW, American Legion and the Lions Club for many years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Harvey; parents, Wayne and Ida Harvey; two sisters, Blanche Hawkins and Frances Bagby; three brothers, Clarence (Bud) Harvey, Walter Harvey and Carlos Harvey. Survivors: stepson, Don Alan Mullinax and wife, Jodi of Cleveland; grandsons, Tyler and Corey Mullinax; granddaughter, Rebecca Maples; 13 nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Petty officiating. A private interment will be held for the family. The family will receive friends from 5- 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to the Big Spring United Methodist Church, Hardwick Street, Cleveland, TN 37311.
