Paul Edward Delaney, 83, passed away on April 8, 2013, to rest peacefully beside his loving wife of 62 years where they will await the return of their Savior, Jesus Christ. He suffered a brief battle with cancer after the death of his wife on January 27, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy Delaney, his parents, William Arthur and Ethel Jarnigan Delaney, two brothers, Lewis and Elmer Delaney, one sister, Mary Evelyn Delaney, and a niece, LuAnn Harris. He was a member of Bowman Hills Seventh-Day Adventist Church for over fifty years. Paul worked as a good provider for his family and was employed by Davenport Hosiery Mill, Elastic Yarns Hosiery Mill, the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, and he was the sole proprietor of Delaney Insulation Company and South Lee Motors. His favorite pastime was restoring classic cars. He is survived by two devoted daughters, Beverly Crigger (late Terry) and Debbie Evans (Johnny), both of Cleveland. He is also survived by a close and only brother, Howard Delaney (Virginia) of Ringgold, Georgia, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Phillip and Sarah Harris of Cleveland, four granddaughters, Amy Burross Jackson (Shane) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jenny Crigger Smith (Kenny) of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Molly Crigger North (Jon) of Cleveland, and Mikayla Evans also from Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Delaney, Charlie, and Carson Jackson, Isaac and Maggie Smith and Jack North; a nephew, Craig Delaney (Tammie), a niece, Teresa Delaney Bean (Gary) of Ringgold, Georgia and great-nephews, Derek Delaney and Mitchell Bean and great-niece, Candace Delaney. He is survived by an individual he regarded as a son, Mike Goodman. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Bowman Hills Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastors Steve Haley and Dwight Herod officiating. Interment will follow in Calhoun First Baptist Cemetery in Calhoun, Tennessee with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Jackson, Kenny Smith, Jon North, Bill Blymiller, Bruce Hopson and Thadious Boothe. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Delaney, Gary Bean and Jimmy Logan. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and also from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
