Alvin E. Firestone, 89, a resident of Garden Plaza of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Cleveland since 1964. His hobbies included golf, fishing, gardening, camping and traveling. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife of 67 years Dorothy Hayes Firestone who passed away on April 18, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Firestone and Vallie McCamish Firestone; stepmother, Vallie Coe Firestone. Alvin is survived by his brother, Reverend J. E. Firestone of Athens; nephew, Don Firestone of Calhoun; niece, Zona Hayes-Morrow of Georgetown; three great nieces, Lee Cornelison, Janet Firestone-Brunk, Kimberly Firestone; three great nephews, Tim Firestone, Robby Firestone and David Firestone; as well as numerous friends. The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Benton, Tim Firestone, Robby Firestone, David Firestone, T. Roy Jones, Glenn Ramsey and Terry Lee Morrow will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
