Ronnie Long, 57, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the family residence after a long time illness of lung cancer. He was of the Baptist faith. He was employed at Beaulieu of America, which was formerly Cornet Industries, for almost forty years where he was loved and respected by his co-workers. He was an avid hunter and Tennessee Vols fan. Mr. Long was the son of the late Rue Long and Minnie Long Carden and was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Joe Long, Benny Long and Bob Long; sister-in-law, Shirley Long. He is survived by his three brothers: Jerry Long and wife, Eileen of Old Fort, Larry Long of Calhoun and Don Long and wife, Gale of Cleveland; two sisters, Belle Samples and husband, Jerry of Charleston and Dean Lee and husband, Ronald of Cleveland; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Long and Diane Long both of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery with Jerry Long, Larry Long, Mitchell Long, Chris Samples, Donald Burgess and Randall Milard serving as pallbearers. Jerry Samples and Ronald Lee will serve as honorary pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the funeral home.
