James Richard "J.R." Jones, 79, of Springfield, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus with his wife and daughters holding his hand on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, TN. He was the owner and operator of B&J Construction. Mr. Jones was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland. He was a past president of the Cleveland Bradley Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Cleveland Country Club, a graduate of Dekalb Junior College. He supported whole heartily the Boy?s and Girl?s Club of Cleveland and St. Jude Children?s Hospital. He was an avid University of Tennessee football fan, having attended games for sixty plus years and was an avid golfer, having played all over the world. Mr. Jones loved life, and he believed a man?s word and handshake was his contract. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and a loving human example of a father?s unconditional love for his family Mr. Jones was born July 29, 1933 in Charleston, TN to the late William and Edith Stonecipher Jones and was also preceded in death by his son-in-law: Roger Kernell, and brother, Joe Danny Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife: Janet M. Tinsley Jones of Springfield, children: Linda (Jeff) Norwood of Signal Mt., TN, Patti (Bill) Walton of Franklin, TN, Lori Shown of Marietta, GA, Kari Kernell of Cottontown, TN, Tuck (Lori) Tinsley of Springfield, TN, and Ashley Tinsley of Madison, TN; brother, Ted (Rita) Jones of Sumter, SC; sisters, Jean Howard of Alabama, and Sylvia Overton of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren: Will and Katie Walton, Jamison and Stewart Norwood, Jonathan Shown, Noah and Lydia Tinsley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Everly officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bill Walton, Will Walton, Jonathan Shown, Stewart Norwood, Jeff Norwood, Tuck Tinsley and Dale Jones. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
