Nerva Catherine Collins Gorbett, 98, passed away December 17, 2012 following several months of declining health. She was born to the late John Pleas and Mary Elizabeth Collins on February 10, 1914 in Cleveland, TN. Nerva was a proud member of Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Azalea Garden Club, which gave her many years of joy. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt to her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, of 51 years, Jacen Everett Gorbett and their son, Jacen David Gorbett; sisters, Mabel McCarter, Meta Burger and Doris Stinnett; brothers, Robert Collins, Herman Collins and John P. (Pete) Collins, Jr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barry and Nancy Hamilton of Jamestown, NC; two grandchildren and their spouses, David and Jill Hamilton of Jamestown, NC and Ron and Jamie Stoffel of High Point, NC; great-grandchildren, Jacen David Hamilton, Jr., Hamilton Stoffel, Joshua Hamilton, Cole Stoffel, Mary Olivia Hamilton, Bethany Hamilton and Will Stoffel. Nerva is also survived by a sister, Ruth Davis and a brother, Joe Collins and wife, Juliah; two sisters-in-law, Jewell Collins and Faye Collins all of Cleveland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the reverend Todd Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with her nephews serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove ceremony. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the funeral home.
