Charles Nichols

Charles H. "Penny" Nichols, 77, a resident of Cleveland, departed this life on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. He was born on April 28, 1935 to the late Isham and Luria Bryson Nichols. Penny was a faithful member of Evening Light Gospel Tabernacle for many years and served as a church musician, playing the bass guitar. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Charleston Hosiery Mill for over 30 years. Penny had also played and sang with several musical groups, including the "Singing Christians". He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Donald Max Nichols and by a special friend, Viola Patterson. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Wright and her husband, Ronald Wright of Cleveland and by several cousins. Because of their kindness and loving service, a special recognition and thanks are extended to the employees of Catie?s Kitchen, Bill and Deloris Beaty, Freddy, Sue and Cassondra Crumley, and Ken Wilson. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Beaty and Reverend Freddy Crumley officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. David Bryson, Arlie Green, Pat Lee, Ed Sneed, Jimmy Thurman, and T.J. White will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the funeral home prior to the service.
