Wendell D. Couch, 61, a resident of McDonald, passed away at his residence with his loving family at his bedside Thursday, December 27, 2012. He had fought a courageous battle with cancer for 26 months. A man of faith, he was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was devoted to his family and many friends. He was a member of the Cleveland Fire Department for thirty years where he retired as an engineer. Mr. Couch was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Earl Couch; infant brother, Wesley Couch and his father-in-law, Luke Brogdon. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Carolyn Brogdon Couch of McDonald; mother, Laura Belle Couch of McDonald; one daughter, Heather Million and husband, Jeremiah of Cleveland; one grandchild, Preslee Million of Cleveland; one brother, Wayman Couch of McDonald; mother-in-law, Mamie Brogdon of McDonald; sister-in-law and husband, Sandra and Steve Cantrell; brother-in-law, Ronnie Brogdon of McDonald; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Thacker officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Cemetery with Shon Powell, Chris Townsend, Alvin Howard, Greg Hooper, James Williams and Billy Durgin serving as pallbearers. The Cleveland Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the funeral home and also from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the funeral home prior to the service.
