Evelyn I. Scott, 88, a resident of Cleveland, passed away, Friday, November 2, 2012, at her home with her family by her side. She retired from American Uniform after 25 years of service. She was a charter member of Valley View Baptist Church. She also volunteered at CONTACT for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe C. and Myrtle I. Dancy Mayberry, and also by two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Walter "Corky" Scott of Cleveland; two children, Linda Chase of South Pittsburgh and Gary and wife Deniece Scott of Bryson City, NC; four grandchildren, Jeff Scott, Timmy Scott, Todd Chase, and Tonya Crisp: five great grandchildren, Anthony Payne, Alex Tinsley, Kayla Scott, Jordan Scott, and Conner Chase; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Sue Reavis of Clemmons, NC; and also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor David Tuten and Pastor Bobby Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Samples Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Scott, Timmy Scott, Todd Chase, Anthony Payne, Randy Scott, and Alex Tinsley. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. Her family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m., Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the funeral home.
