Luther Eldon Botts, 87, went home to be with his Heavenly Father and his loving wife of 53 years on Friday afternoon, November 2, 2012, in a local health facility. He was born on January 18, 1925. He served in the United States Army during World War II in Italy, Germany, and Japan, receiving numerous medals of Honor. He was employed with his uncle, Preston Parris, until his retirement. He was a member at Sunrise Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Emma Lee Hooker Botts; son, David Dwight Botts; daughter, Sharon Diane Botts Lee; parents, Wade Allen Botts and Sadie Belle Botts; brothers, Dewey, Winston, Robert and Edgar Botts; sisters, Jessie Moore, Earnestine McClure and Betty Willis Evans. Survivors include his sons, Jimmy Botts and wife Rosa Lee, Dennis Botts and wife Marcia; daughter, Joyce Meneley, all of Cleveland; sister Beulah Hall of Cleveland; 17 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special caregiver , Luda Voytsa. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral home with Reverend Charles Moore and Reverend Benny Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Boanerges Cemetery with grandsons Zachary, Matthew, Jeff, Casey, and Jason Botts and Jimmy and Andy Cooley serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with military honors and a white dove release ceremony. The family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the funeral home.
