Dowe Ownby

Dowe N. Ownby, 79, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was born July 11, 1933 in Bradley County. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He worked for Burlington Industries and retired from M&M Mars. He was a veteran of the U. S Army. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie and Ethel Brackin Ownby; son: Steven Neil Ownby; sister: Diciephine Ownby and brother: Sherrell Ownby. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy Brown Ownby of Cleveland; son: John and wife Robin Ownby of Cleveland; grandchildren: Sarah and Josh Mullis of Cleveland, Brian Ownby of Murfreesboro and Chris and Lindsey Ownby of Cleveland; great-grandchild: Isaac Ownby of Cleveland; one sister, Myrtle Ownby and husband Ray, two brothers: Adrian Ownby and wife Diane, and Richard Ownby all of Cleveland; sister-in-law Mary Selma Ownby of Knoxville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastors Lu Crandall and Tom Seay officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. John Ownby, Chris Ownby, Brian Ownby, Josh Mullis, Bill Ownby and Jeff Ownby will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 21, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. and Friday November 23, 2012 from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
