Joe Franklin Murphy, 61, a life long resident of Bradley County, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the family residence. He was a member of All Nations Church of God where he was a deacon for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved tractors, hot-rods, “pickin for hidden treasures” and especially the grandbaby. Mr. Murphy was the son of the late Tommy Charles Murphy and Effie Loraine Jenkins Murphy and was also preceded in death by his brother, Ellis Murphy and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife, Adelia Murphy of Cleveland; two daughters, Erin Rodgers and husband, Steven of Atlanta, GA and Megan Simpson and husband, Mitchell of Cleveland; two sons, Andrew Murphy of Cleveland and Chris Murphy of Knoxville; one grandchild, Kaylee Marie Simpson of Cleveland; six sisters, Wanda Harris, Laura Morrow, Ressie (Rusty) Wise, Janie Underwood, Mary Works, Sandra Lawson all of Cleveland; three brothers, Charles L. (Red) Murphy, Roy Murphy and James E. Murphy all of Cleveland; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Whitmire officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Randy Burmeister, Eddie Murphy, Wyatt Goodrum, Weston Goodrum, Robert Wilson and LeRoy Bowman will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, and also Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
