Syntha Scoggins, 84, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 in a local healthcare facility. Syntha retired after 42 years of service from American Uniform Co. She was a member of Bancroft Church of God and was a volunteer at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was graduated from Chattanooga Central High School, class of 1944, where she was a member of the Purple Pounder basketball team. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Scoggins, Jr.; parents, Homer and Nora Faulkenberry LeRoy; brothers, Homer LeRoy, Jr., Raymond LeRoy, Billy Joe LeRoy and sister, Ann Lewis. She is survived by her son, Eddie Scoggins and wife, Susan of Cleveland; 3 grandchildren, Jeff Scoggins, Julie Quinn and husband, Brian of Cleveland and Charissa Newby and husband, Eric of Ooltewah; 7 great-grandchildren, Skylar Scoggins, Brandon Scoggins, Erica Newby, Jacob Newby, Emily Quinn, Kinsey Newby and Brylee Newby; one brother, Lawrence Franklin "Dick" LeRoy of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sears officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery with her nephews serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Her family will receive friends from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 and 5:00- 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the funeral home.
