James F. Mitchell, age 81, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the family residence. He was an elder at the Flint Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a long time member of Flint Springs Ruritan Club and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. F. “Frank” Mitchell and Kate Shields Mitchell and his wife of fifty years, Rita Gossett Mitchell and a sister, Mary Davis. He is survived by his two children: Jim Mitchell and wife Vicki Mitchell of Cleveland and Patti Mitchell Scoggins and husband Billy McKee all of Cleveland; two grandchildren: Jimmy Mitchell and Sara Mitchell; nephews: Franklin Maples and William Davis; nieces: Sabra McCoy and Sheriee Wyatt and special friend, Alene Darnell. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kevin Wilson and Reverend Herbert Conley officiating, Interment will follow in Flint Springs Cemetery with military honors. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the funeral home.
