Al Satterfield, 77, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009 at his home. Born March 2, 1932 in Murphy, NC, he was the son of the late John and Lucy Verner Satterfield. He was a butcher by trade and loved to hunt and trade and spend time with his family and friends. He was a member of Ranger Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Austin Dockery and Willard Satterfield, four sisters, Agnes Cardin, Ona Bea Verner, Violet Rice and Margie Woods. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Johnson and husband, Barry of Cleveland and Connie Hedden and husband, Jack of Murphy, NC; five grandchildren, Vickie Nakdimen, Leslie Rogers, Kristie Allison, Tamala Orton and Darren Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Levi and Kelsey Bryant, Lexie and Maggie Allison, Lauren Rogers and Gabe Nakdimen. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 2:00 at Ranger Baptist Church in Murphy, NC with Pastor L. B. Adams and Reverend Zach Orton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Darren Johnson, Alan Bryant, Nick Nakdimen, Robbie Farris, Shane Allison, Doug Satterfield and Dan Cardin serving as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and from 12:00-2:00 on Wednesday, April 22 at Ranger Baptist Church in Murphy, NC prior to the service.
