Helen Ruth Tate, 74, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in a Chattanooga hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving Mother and wife. She loved her children, flowers and cooking. Her good cooking will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin L. Tate; parents, Fred and Edna Stiles Reid; and granddaughter, Careese Renee Tate. She is survived by her children, Farrell Tate and wife, Connie, Marty Tate and wife, Carolyn, and Teresa Watson, all of Cleveland and Lamar Tate and wife, Emily of Readyville. She was the oldest of eleven children and is survived by three sisters, Marylou Hyatt and husband, Donald and Jeannette Palmer, all of GA and Sally Jones and husband, Tom of Cleveland; seven brothers, Bob Reid and wife, Juanita of Cleveland, Fred Reid and wife, Delores, Lowe Reid and wife, Peggy, Farris Reid and wife, Joanne and Louis Reid, all of Murphy, NC, Norbert Reid and wife, Sue and Stub Reid and wife, Clara, all of Turtletown; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Farris Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Daniel Tate, Seth Tate, Travis Tate, Joshua Tate, Tom Jones and Keith Jones serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the funeral home.
