Ota Sue Cooper, 72, peacefully passed to be with her Lord the morning of Wednesday May 27, 2009, experiencing her last nightfall, and now living the promise of salvation. She was preceded by her mother Susie Burnette, dad Robert Burnette, and brothers Ralph Burnette and Robert Burnette Jr. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years Reverend Wayne Cooper; her children, Eddie Cooper, Tim Cooper and wife, Kim, all of Cleveland, Debbie Tinsley and husband, David of Miami, FL; her brother, Charles Burnette and eight grandchildren. Sue Cooper devoted herself, heart, body and soul to being an extraordinary wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother and loyal friend. She was famously kind and with great affection, she wove a tapestry of love, wisdom, and encouragement around her children and grandchildren. Uniquely, with her contagious smile and beautiful blue eyes, she did not just enter a room, but took possession of it. Her greatest legacy was that of a prayer warrior for her husband, children, grandchildren and friends. Cancer successfully took her body, but failed miserably in affecting her Spirit. Through months of pain, she read scripture, prayed, and smiled, while praying for and encouraging others. Her countenance, kindness and smile, will live forever in those that knew her. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with pastors W.L. Shipman, Melvin White and Sam Harris leading the celebration honoring Sue Cooper’s life. Interment will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
