Amos L. Allen, age 73, a native of Polk County and resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday morning, May 28, 2009 in a local hospital. He was member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Polk County. He was retired from M & M Mars Inc. and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was the son of the late Madie Lee Morgan Allen. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, J. D. Allen and twin brother, Andy Allen; two sisters, Myrtle Allen and Edith King. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Allen; four children, Robin Everson and Johnny Smith of Cleveland, Richard Crisp and wife, Sara of Cleveland, Gary Crisp and wife, Nancy of Cleveland, Rhonda Fields and husband, Paul of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Imogene Allen Bryan of Benton; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Minister A.C. Cooper officiating. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will meet at Ralph Buckner Funeral home at 12:00 noon to proceed to the graveside service. Pallbearers will be grandsons and special friends.
