Larry Ferguson

Larry Ferguson, 62 of McDonald, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the family residence. He was called home to be with the Lord due to natural causes. He was employed with Cleveland City Schools in the maintenance department. He was a member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church. He was a former bass player for The Mello-Tones. He never met a stranger and had love and compassion for everyone. Everyone that knew him loved him. He never failed to help anyone. He will be greatly missed. He loved the mountain, flowers and his motorcycle. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Sophia Ownbey and Lon and Ida Ferguson. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Linda Ferguson of McDonald; mother, Emma Ferguson of Cleveland; father, Hoil Ferguson of Cleveland; two sons, Mitchell Ferguson and Steven Ferguson and wife, Shantelle, all of Cleveland; daughter, Karen King and husband, Joe of Cleveland; stepdaughter, Gina Pletcher and husband, Dale of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Tyler King, Austin King and Lillimarie Ferguson; one step granddaughter, Amber Shepard and husband, Nick; three sisters, Patricia Johnson and husband, Alan, Brenda Hawkins, Wanoka Brown and husband, Joe, all of Cleveland; one brother, Randall Ferguson and wife, Carolyn of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Frances Beck of Cleveland; brother-in-law, Don Beck and wife, Terri of Kingston; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 2:00 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Roberts and Pastor Huel Hooker officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery in McDonald with Dale Pletcher, Adam Ferguson, Dewayne Hamby, Bruce Compton, Kevin Avery and Johnny Cheek serving as pallbearers. The Cleveland City Schools Maintenance Department will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
