Allen Dale Varnell, 59, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was an avid hunter, sportsman and collector of civil war artifacts. He was a member in good standing of the "YE OLDE FARTES AND SORE LOSERS CLUB" that shot traditional archery in Crossville, TN. He was employed with Permna Color for 23 years and was currently employed with Cormetech Inc. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea and Germany. He attended Eastside Church of Christ with his wife. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He had a smile that brightened your day, and he loved to tease and laugh with all who ever met him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Russell Noblitt. Survivors include his sweetheart and wife of 29 years, Tomilee Phillips Varnell of Cleveland; father, Thomas and wife Ann Varnell of Cleveland; five children and spouses: Calina and A.J. Scott, Aaron and Kelly Varnell, Taylor Varnell, Scott and Kathy Varnell and Jeff Varnell all of Cleveland; eight grandchildren: Nathan and Cooper Scott, Veronica, Katelyn and David Allen Varnell, Tylor, Madilyn and Abigail Varnell; one sister and spouse: Robin and husband Johnny Velba of Cleveland; two brothers: Lloyd (Chip) Varnell and Michael and wife Dana Varnell all of Cleveland; step brother, Donnie Parker of Cleveland; step father, James Noblitt of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Jeff Archey and Minister Bill Maynard officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery with Steve Williams, Max Swafford, Jack Hollifield, Charles Cockburn, Stanley Walker and Sonny Russell serving as pallbearers. "YE OLDE FARTES AND SORE LOSERS CLUB" will serve as honorary pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the funeral home.
