LISLE E. PAGE, 88, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009, in a local hospital. He was a veteran of World War II proudly serving his country in the U. S. Navy. He entered the Navy in September of 1940 and was serving on the U.S.S. Enterprise during the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was involved in the battle of Midway and several other Pacific battles. After faithfully serving in the Navy for 22 years, he retired and began a career with the U. S. Forestry Service where he worked with the Cleveland office for 20 years. He was a skilled woodworker and a member of the Cleveland Creative Arts Guild for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. His parents, Lisle and Otellia Givens Page, preceded him in death as well as his first wife, Mary Bedford Page, and three brothers: William Page, Jessie Page and James Page. He is survived by his wife, Grace Page of Cleveland; two children: Marlis McLain of Aiken SC, and Melanie Moore of Bristol, TN; step-daughters: Clara Reid of Turtletown, Patricia Shell of Cleveland, and Sharon Spurling of Murphy, NC; a host of step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Grace Hobbs of Johnson City, TX, and Mary Lou Darity of Beaufort, SC. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Shannon Spurling officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Bill McLain, Ronnie Moore, Claude Shell, Mike Spurling, Perry Reid and Michael Rose serving as pallbearers.
