Evelyn Marie Lawson

Evelyn Marie Lawson, 85, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away March 28, 2009 in a local healthcare facility. She was the daughter of the late John William Collis and Ora Roseola Collis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Lawson; daughter, Gloria Lawson; two brothers-in-law, Earl Lawson, Robert Stanley Lawson and his wife, Thelma. She worked for many years at Burlington Industries and Hardwick Clothes. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church but attended Bellefounte Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir. Survivors include her sons: Gary G. Lawson of Decatur; Danny Earnest Lawson and wife, Robin of Georgetown; daughter, Carol Lawson Keith and husband, Glenn M. Keith of Cleveland; beloved grandchildren: Jeremy Lawson and Tara of NC; Jason Lawson of MS, Megan Lawson of Georgetown, Leah Keith Houle and Steve of Chattanooga, Danyon Hale and Randy of Chattanooga, Tyler Keith and Kim Keith of Cleveland; five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild: two sisters, Mamie Louise Abercrombie of Chattanooga, Hazel Whaley and husband, Don of Cleveland; brother, Columbus John (CJ) Collis and wife, Evelyn of Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Velma Suits and Ellis of Cleveland, Trudy Lawson of Ringgold, GA; brothers-in-law, Eugene Lawson and wife, Wilma of Clinton, NY and Richard Lawson and wife, Beverly of Vale, NC. A remembrance of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Lake Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Jeremy Lawson, Jason Lawson, Tyler Keith, Ronnie Whaley, Daniel Lawson and Glenn Keith serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
