Paul D. Taylor, 74, a resident of Charleston, peacefully passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, after a long illness with cancer. Paul passed away on his wife Phyllis?s birthday. He had missed her greatly since her death two years ago. Before his retirement, he was employed as a back hoe operator with Clyde Colloms Plumbing for 45 years. He was a member of Council Baptist Church. He was a member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge 484 F&AM, a Shriner and a past Worshipful Master. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Ernest Taylor and Minnie Kirksey Taylor, his loving wife, Phyllis Ann Wells Taylor, two brothers: Robert Taylor and J. N. Taylor, and two sisters: Irene Taylor and Veta Denton. Survivors include one son, Ernie Taylor and wife Sherri of Charleston; two grandchildren: Christin Taylor, and Lindsey Crackel and husband Matt, all of Charleston; three great-grandchildren: Titus Torbett, Kailyn Crackel and Matilyn Crackel, all of Charleston; two sisters: Opal Cox and Lucille Burnette, both of Cleveland; one brother, R. H. Taylor of Ontario, OR; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Watson officiating. Interment with a White Dove Ceremony will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens with Tony Dixon, Darvin Dixon, Bill Franklin, Jason Wells, Ricky Wells, Larry Smith and Jeff Burnette serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Doug Thrift, Hershall Burger and George King.
